Joint Activities

With... The European Union and International Organizations

The EAPCCT regularly organizes joint meetings with the European Community (EC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), particularly through the auspices of the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS), which is a joint undertaking of WHO, International Labour Organisation (ILO) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

- intoxicate Study

This European, multicenter study group will conduct an observational study to look at the outcomes and prognosis of intoxicated patients in intensive care units.
The intoxicate Study is endorsed by ESICM (European Society Intensive Care Medicine), and the EAPCCT.
Please learn more about it here.

- Joint Projects on the European CLP Regulation and the Cosmetics Regulation

2010 November 24: Workshop on the harmonisation of Information for Poisons Centres (Art. 45 of the CLP Regulation)
2011 November 07: Expert Meeting on the harmonisation of Information for Poisons Centres

- The ASHT Project

The EAPCCT was a partner in the development of an alerting system for chemical health threats for the European Commission. A brief project overview is available here ( Czech, Russian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Latvian and Polish).
To inform about the progress of the project, the working group published two ASHT-Newsletters (No. 1 and No. 2), and presented at the EAPCCT Congresses 2010 in Bordeaux and 2011 in Dubrovnik.
The EAPCCT was a collaborating partner in the phase III of the ASHT project.

With... the AACT

- Clinical Toxicology

The EAPCCT also works closely with the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) and co-sponsors The Journal Clinical Toxicology.

- Clinical Toxicology Recommendations Collaborative

It is our pleasure to announce the creation of the Clinical Toxicology Recommendations Collaboration. This new scientific collaboration follows the success of the Lipid Emulsion Workgroup and is intended to bring a unified voice for clinical recommendations within the scientific and clinical toxicology communities.
See the Terms of Reference of this collaboration.

- EXTRIP

EXTRIP is a group of international participants with content expertise in poisonings and/or extracorporeal treatments. EXTRIP performs systematic reviews on the evidence of of extracorporeal treatments (ECTRs) and provides clinical recommendations on the use of ECTRs in various poisonings.
See the EXTRIP website for more information.

- The Position Statements

The EAPCCT and the AACT have produced a series of Position Statements on gut decontamination and elimination techniques. These consensus documents are evidence based and are intended to improve even further the management of poisoned patients:

Ipecac Syrup (2004), Update 2013
Single-Dose Activated Charcoal
Multi-Dose Activated Charcoal
Cathartics
Whole Bowel Irrigation
Gastric Lavage (2004), Update 2013
Urine Alkalinization
